The Dawn of a New Decade

This is the dawn of a new decade—2020. It has a nice ring to it. At the New Year's Eve gala two weeks ago, Herb Komnick invoked Mark Pelkey's idea of what 2020 means —we all have 20/20 vision! As we enter this New Year, it almost begs us to see more clearly. I feel a sense of urgency to get things in order and set my intentions for the year and decade ahead.

One of the projects I am working on in 2020 are my legal documents. I want to be sure they are in order and up to date and reflect my intentions. I will look at documents like my durable financial power of attorney, durable power of attorney, advanced directives and my will. My will is perhaps the one item that will have some changes. I prepared my will a while back, but I know that a will is not a static document. Life is unpredictable and our preferences and relationships can over time. Tax laws change a lot and I want to ensure that I am protecting my beneficiaries. I want to be sure that the organizations I and those that have touched my life are included in my will.

Now is the perfect time (we have 20/20 vision in 2020, remember?) during a review of your legal documents to consider leaving a charitable gift to Foundation—a gift that will benefit the generations of seniors. Who does not want to make a difference to the place that has meant so much in our lives? You can inspire future generations of seniors by making a charitable distribution through your will and it's so easy to do—just write it into your will or trust. Giving to Campus positively impacts everyone, but those who benefit the most are those who plan to give and make a difference to future generations!

A gift through your estate provides a foundation for Beatitudes Campus to carry out our mission. During your lifetime or afterwards, these gifts also allow you to take care of your family, provide for the transfer of assets to those close to you and include a charitable gift to meet your philanthropic . While estate planning can entail some difficult choices, it does provide a sense of relief and peace of mind when it is done. You'll know that you have done your best to plan and provide for yourself and for loved ones, as well as the organizations you've cared about during your lifetime.

Beatitudes is blessed to have many residents and community donors supporting our mission, including many of you who have chosen to secure the future of the campus mission through a gift from your estate. You have turned your into action. To express appreciation for your vision and for remembering Beatitudes Campus Foundation in your estate plan, we want to thank you and honor you with membership in the Culver Nelson Founders Society. Members of this special group share the common bond of philanthropy and vision to provide for the needs of future generations. No gift has a more lasting impact. Simply notify me of your intent. By informing the foundation of your plans, you give us the to give your gift the it deserves. I can help you and your advisors complete your gift in a way that benefits your estate and makes clear your intention to support Beatitudes Campus.
