Beatitudes Community

State of the Campus – Sept. 11

Today is the 19th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks against our nation. “We Will Not Forget” is a reminder of tragedy and loss as well as our remarkable ability to unify as a nation and to move forward. Resilience and community made the difference then, as it will now. As you share stories and memories about September 11, 2001 also look ahead with courage, compassion and purpose to guide us through this challenging time.

This past week marked a significant milestone for our Beatitudes community, as family visits began. I am so happy for our residents and family members to have the opportunity to enjoy in-person visits again! There are distinct and requirements for each area of our campus- Independent Living, Assisted Living/Early Memory Support and Health Center. Please visit our website and click on the “COVID-19 Information” button in the upper left-hand corner. Once that page appears, scroll down and look further below for the purple button entitled “Visitor Guidelines and Forms” to review all information to plan your visit.

In considering family visits, I encourage everyone to think beyond the guidelines and respect each person's comfort zone when making decisions. For example, is it possible to have the visit outside? Is there clear communication about the importance of masks except during meals, and how close will you sit to one another when sharing a meal? We support families choosing to arrange a visit now as well as families choosing to postpone a visit into the future. For our Independent Living residents, please remember that there is a limit of one guest (or couple) per week for this month. We will continue to monitor for any spikes in cases on the campus or in the community and make changes as needed. The Visitor Attestation Form requires a phone number, as we may need to reach out for contact tracing purposes – a serious reminder that precautions must be taken before, during and after each visit. Finally, testing is required for those visiting a in Assisted Living/Early Memory Support or Health Care Center. To locate information about -19 testing sites, please visit the Arizona Department of Health Services website (https://www.azdhs.gov/index.php).

On Tuesday, Beatitudes Campus conducted another mass PCR (nasal swab) testing of all staff. Yesterday we were pleased to learn that all 327 staff and contractors tested negative. Next week, approximately 200 direct care and support staff members will be tested. We remain committed to the safety of our residents and staff through our comprehensive testing program.

Let us also remember that Sunday, September 13 is Grandparent's Day. We are grateful for our residents' wisdom, perspective and love! I wish you a safe and pleasant weekend.
