Updates From Life Enrichment

Hello Beatitudes!! I am blessed to write this message to you today and I hope it finds you in high hopes and leaves you feeling ready to take on the world! I must say that this the way you have me feeling as of late here on campus. The weather is warming and it is wonderful to see so many of you across campus. Please enjoy all we have to offer and take full advantage of our upcoming outings and hosted here.

I want to take this time to thank everyone on our Life Enrichment Committee for all their hard work, and help putting on last month's events. Our Life Enrichment Committee is led by resident Marge O' Horo. She is an excellent leader and I am thankful for your leadership on the committee. If anyone is interested in joining the committee please reach out to Marge O' Horo at x15221. In this committee we plan outing, events on campus, we discuss music and any other culture we would like to see here.

A few events that I would like to highlight from last month include our Movie Night, our Earth Day Celebration, Morning Wake Up and distribution of free Bags of Produce donated by Gregory's Market. Yet again, all events could not have happened without the help of some amazing residents, volunteers and our incredible staff. Thank you for all who participated and who continue to participate. It is amazing to see all the friendship and fellowship here are campus during these events.

A few events worth highlighting for the month of May include Symphonic Music with Bruce Pulk on the 7th and 21st, Virtual Bingo on the 12th and the 26th, a trip to the MIM Museum on the 20th and Traveler Tuesday is here with a trip to Hula's Modern Tiki just to name a few. Please call x12905 to reserve your spot on the bus. Please check out the community channel 1-1 for more information on events and weekly roadrunner.

I thank you all for allowing me to bring into your lives and I appreciate all the community we build together. We will continue to have fun and expand our culture in the next few months. Please look out for more opportunities and with that I leave you some amazing words from a wise poet.

The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and ,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.

The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.

Good timber does not grow with ease,
The stronger wind, the stronger trees,
The further sky, the greater length,
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and , by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.

Where thickest lies the forest growth
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life.

This poem is titled “Good Timber and was written by Douglas Malloch. Please check out the Poetry Nook in the for more words of wisdom.
