Beatitudes Community

State of the Campus – Sept. 4

The Labor Day holiday was created over 125 years ago to recognize the contributions of American workers to the vast achievements of the United States. For this 2020 Labor Day holiday, I especially want to honor all Beatitudes Campus staff for their willingness and flexibility to “step up” and pivot to new tasks and assignments over the past six months. As our campus moved through each phase of adaptations, staff was there working as a team to navigate our unchartered territory. None of our campus response to would be possible without every staff member expanding beyond their comfort zone and doing so with purpose, strength and compassion. We are #Beatitudes Strong. Thank you, staff!

As we enter our holiday weekend, I hope that everyone enjoys special time with and . Throughout the weekend, please remember to keep safe through only in small groups, social distancing, wearing masks and using sanitizer. We hear of family events in the news, such as weddings, where the virus quickly spread through families of all ages, communities, places of and workplaces. Often such events involve the virus being spread through asymptomatic people. Let's help to remind one another that we cannot let down our guard and that special time with family and friends must include safety and protection. We are all in this together!

I also share this reminder as I am pleased to announce that [this] week we are beginning resident visitations with family and friends. The decision to begin visitations was based on guidance and recommendations from the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS), Leading Age, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Maricopa County Department of Health. Each area of campus – Health Care Center, Plaza View Assisted Living and Piper Early Memory and Independent Living – has distinct guidelines. The guidelines for visitations will be posted on our website over the weekend. Visitations for the Health Care Center and Assisted Living areas will begin on Wednesday, September 9. Please note that visitations are by appointment only in these areas of campus. For Independent Living, visitations will begin on Thursday, September 10; appointments are not necessary for families and friends of residents in Independent Living. For all families, we ask the guidelines be read very carefully and visits be approached with the utmost care and consideration for family members as well as for our entire Beatitudes Campus community. Please note all areas of campus require visitors to bring completed forms on the day of the visit, which can be found on our website.

Our campus testing program remains a vital part of keeping our campus safe and controlling the spread of COVID-19. Over the past week, all direct care staff and support staff that work in Plaza View and the Health Care Center were tested with a PCR (nasal swab) test. This testing event revealed 203 negative PCR tests and one PCR test. The staff person with the positive PCR test is in quarantine at home. For medical reasons, two staff could not undergo the PCR test. Those two staff members received the IgG/IgM serology test and both results were negative. On Tuesday, over 300 staff members will receive a PCR test. We are grateful for our partnership with CareToU as we continue our robust testing program. Working together, we are Beatitudes Strong. I wish you a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!
